Gabor Maté (pronounced GAH-bor MAH-tay) is a retired physician who, after 20 years of family practice and palliative care experience, worked for over a decade in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side with patients challenged by drug addiction and mental illness.

The bestselling author of five books published in 43 languages, including the award-winning In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters With Addiction, Gabor is an internationally renowned speaker highly sought after for his expertise on addiction, trauma, childhood development, and the relationship of stress and illness. For his ground-breaking medical work and writing he has been awarded the Order of Canada, his country’s highest civilian distinction, and the Civic Merit Award from his hometown, Vancouver. His most recent book, The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic Culture is a New York Times and international bestseller.

After our explorations, we will gather back on the yacht for casual conversations. Share stories, laughter, and create unforgettable memories as we enjoy an overnight stay in our comfortable cabins. DAY ONE: Meet and Greet

Start the week by connecting with fellow participants, Dr. Gabor Maté & his wife Rae Maté in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Take this opportunity to share your intentions and aspirations for the transformative journey that lies ahead. Let’s come together and set a positive tone for the days to come.

DAY TWO: Mind/Body Connection

In this enlightening lecture, Dr. Maté will discuss the profound relationship between emotional stress and physical health. Based on insights from his groundbreaking book, “When the Body Says No”, he will illustrate how our emotional states influence chronic illnesses and autoimmune conditions. DAY THREE: Trauma, Illness & Healing in a Toxic Culture: “When the Body Says No”
